Privacy Policy
Short version: Celare doesn’t collect any data about you. Your files are encrypted on your iPhone before they’re stored anywhere, and we have no way to read them.
Celare is made by Wenhai Huang (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Celare app for iPhone and the website celare.app.
What we collect
Nothing. Celare has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking. The app doesn’t send any data to us or to any third party. We don’t run servers that your data could reach.
Your files
- Photos, videos, notes and files you add to Celare are encrypted on your iPhone with AES-256-GCM before they’re written to storage.
- The keys come from your pattern and your recovery phrase. They are never stored in readable form and never leave your device.
- We can’t open your vaults, see what’s in them, or tell how many you have. There is no backdoor. If you lose both your pattern and your recovery phrase, nobody, including us, can recover your data.
iCloud Backup
If you turn on Encrypted iCloud Backup, Celare uploads your vaults to the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account. Everything is encrypted on your iPhone before upload. Apple stores the encrypted data under Apple’s iCloud terms; we can’t access your iCloud storage.
Permissions Celare asks for
- Photos: to import full Live Photos and edited photos, and to remove originals from your library after import if you choose to. Celare never uploads your photo library.
- Camera and microphone: only for taking photos and videos inside Celare. Captures go straight into your vault, not into your photo library.
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Celare Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details. Apple gives us aggregated, anonymous sales reports.
If you email us
If you contact us, for example through “Send Feedback” in the app, we receive the email address and message you send. We use them only to reply and don’t share them. Celare’s feedback emails don’t include any information about your vaults.
Children
Celare isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone.
Our website
celare.app doesn’t use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security, for a limited time.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Because we collect no data, a change can’t apply to data we hold about you.
